More Ramblings
I can't wait for these god-dang holidays to fly by so I can get on with my life! Then I can at least "pass" for a normal, nondescript, every-day human being. Oh life! (or god?), why have you dealt me such a cruel hand?
Happy Thanksgiving...
... to those fortunate enough to spend the day with family and friends. Ah... Thanksgiving, and for that matter, all festive holidays are dreaded times of the year for me. Surely, I'm not alone in spending the holidays alone? Say it ain't so! I suppose misery likes company. But it's not misery because I don't get to do the things people do, but because I stick out like a sore thumb. See, during pre-holidays or the day after (or even several days after) I often get asked about the holidays (usually casually by an acquaintance or a stranger), like "How was Thanksgiving (or any other festive holiday)?" And when I say I didn't do very much, I get an awkward silence, or maybe a "Would you look at the time, gotta go!" So, pre-holiday or the-day-after days are also dreaded times of the year for me. Despite having to deal with awkward situations, I sometimes count myself lucky to have food for my belly and shelter over my head. Happy Everyday, not just Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year, or What-Have-You. So, here's to joyful solitude during the holidays, and once again, to all who are fortunate enough to spend today with family and friends, Happy Thanksgiving.
